Sandcastles, dinner, and a beautiful Tofino sunset

A couple days ago, we experienced a truly beautiful day here in Tofino. The sun was shining, the temperature was in the double digits, and hundreds of people were out on the beach enjoying the day. This is especially important considering that the weather forecast is rain for the next week… Yay Spring time in a Rain Forest!

As we headed down to the beach, we came across some people building a sand castle with their kids, and Miya was immediately drawn to this massive mound of sand on the beach. Miya made friends, and helped build and play. The kids were great with her, given that they were older than she is, and she had a ball.

We had a great time playing in the sand, and Liam had a ball wandering around in the moat, and also just digging in the sand. All in all, it was a great day, and a sign of what’s to come!

After getting back home and cleaning up a bit (sand gets everywhere), we went out for dinner at the Bistro that is nearby and had some really fantastic food, and walked back as the sun was beginning to set over the little island just off shore. The air was still warm, and it was a perfect end to the day.

The following day was my birthday, and it rained all day, so I’m really happy that we got out prior.

The sand castle is still there for the most part, but the rain is making short work of it, and it’ll be nothing more than a bump in the sand soon. Then, we make a new one!
